Tips in Playing Video Poker

The key to winning a Video Poker game is a sharp eyesight. To be able to spot the best hand after dealing a set of five cards will surely deliver the jackpot. However, that is not as simple as it seems.

Video Poker machines, like Slot machines, use RNG random number generator, which operates constantly in no particular order. This computer program works even when the machine is not in use. The odds of being dealt with the jackpot hand are as huge as the odds of hitting the winning combination in Slots.

The goal of a Video Poker player is to build the best hand possible either with the opening Deal or by holding/discarding some of his cards. Unlike in Slots where you will be gratified instantly after a spin, you get two chances of getting a bigger payout in Video Poker. After being dealt with five cards, you will be given a chance to exchange your card for another, which will be chosen randomly as was the regulation.

Some players risk losing a current hand in exchange for a better one by discarding some of the cards, clearly hoping that the turnout will be favorable to them. You can also do that but be aware that in your search for a better hand, you are risking to lose what you already have. To ensure that you are using this trick to your advantage, make sure that you study the odds carefully. If you are already holding a pair of jacks, you should know that it is quite impossible to build the higher hands like a royal flush. But then again, you will have better chances of building two pairs so aim for that goal.

Although the number of hands that can be created using a 52 deck card is huge, you should not be too excited or too worried. Every single hand pays out a specific sum of money based on the pay table. However, you cannot topple off the House if you are only getting a mere sum for the hands that you built. The trick here is to always aim for a higher hand that you could possibly create with your dealt cards. You will be able to do this if you have studied the pay table well enough.

It sure would not hurt to be aware that a Full House, a hand that contains a trio and a pair, and a Royal Flush, a hand that contains all the high valued cards of a single suit, always pay the highest!
